Ink and pencils |
Back in the day, way before I learned computer graphics, it was all done by hand. Fliers, t-shirts and inlays were all produced the same; devoted hours in the sketch pad with late nights manually copying, cutting and pasting at Kinko's. Ahh… those were the days. My first real band, Gordon's Iguana, hooked up with Shakin' Sheila Records (now Noise Pollution) to produced a split 7" with our good friends Blindive. To promote this release, we put the recording on a CDR to distribute to radio stations. This is the insert I whipped up. My girlfriend at the time (now my wife) put her touch on it as well. She has an excellent eye for color, don't you think? The Gordon's Iguana side of the record featured a tune called "Sofa," while the Blindive side featured "Touch of Eden." I thought this piece of art did a nice job of meshing the two together. |

… and another for the old-school way. Please excuse the crease in the middle. My only copy was buried in a folder somewhere in the bottom of my closet. Incidentally, this was our actual phone number when we shared an apartment in West L.A. |
